How To

How to apply semi-cured gel nail strips:

Tools you may need to do a good prep and application: cuticle pusher, cuticle remover oil, buffer, cuticle trimmer, file, nail scissors, large nail clippers.

  1. Prep - Make sure to wash your hands with soap and water. Begin by gently pushing your cuticle away from the nail. If this is your first time pushing your cuticles, you may need to take more time on this step. you can apply cuticle remover and let it soak for a few minutes, then gently trim with a cuticle trimmer. Wash your hands with soap and water, then gently wipe with alcohol prep pad included with the strips.
  2. Choose strips that fit your nail. It's important to choose a strip that perfectly fits or is slightly smaller. You don't to size up, as it will stick to your skin and the manicure won't last. Carefully place the strips on each nail of one hand. If you put it on crooked or too close to the cuticle, you can pull it up and retry placement.
  3. Once you have applied the strips to one hand, this step is the important step to avoid hair snags and lifting. You will take the wood stick included with the strips, pointy side, and roll the edges firmly toward the cuticle. This firmly presses and seals the strip to your nail. Don't forget the edge near the tip of your nail.
  4. Now, it's time to trim. You can use small scissors or large nail clippers to trim off the excess strip. I personally prefer nail clippers, as I find it helps to seal the edges at your tips. Make sure to clip the excess all the way to the natural nail edge. If you let the strip hang over longer than the natural nail, it will likely chip or lift as strips are not meant to extend the length.
  5. Once trimmed, give each nail one more good press and cure under your UV lamp for 60-120 seconds. I like to cure for two cycles of 60. This ensures that the strips completely harden.
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 on your other hand.
  7. OPTIONAL: If using a topcoat, Mani Society's no-wipe topcoat is the perfect glossy topcoat to give your manicure extra shine and polish. Be sure to cure for 120 seconds after applying topcoat.
